Help & support

A little help with your diary, backups and exports.

For help or a feature request, email my2patterns@gmail.com. Diary records are never attached automatically.

Save a backup before changing phones

Open Settings → Backup and restore → Save full backup. Choose a location in Files. On My iPhone keeps the file on this phone; to move to another phone, deliberately transfer your backup using a destination you trust.

On the other phone, install EatNPoo, then open Settings → Restore from backup and select that JSON file. Check the preview before restoring. Keep the original backup until you have checked the restored diary.

If the app or phone is lost

There is no developer-held copy of your diary and no automatic cloud recovery. Without a saved backup, deleting the app or losing access to the phone can mean losing the diary. A backup kept only on the same phone cannot help if that phone is lost.

Use the right export

JSON is the full diary backup format, including favourites. CSV and PDF are for reading or sharing; EatNPoo does not restore a diary from those formats. A successful backup updates Last saved backup in Settings.

Logging and reviewing

Use Food, Drink, Poo or Symptom to add a time-stamped entry. Optional details can stay unrecorded. History searches across all dates; tapping a result opens the entry.

An empty day means not recorded. Use No poo this day only when you want to explicitly confirm that no bowel movement occurred. Summaries describe your records and do not establish that a food caused a symptom.

Favourites and quick logging

Open a food or drink entry and choose Save as favourite. Select Favourites from a logging form to reuse it with the new entry’s time. Manage favourites in Settings.

Add the EatNPoo widget from your Home Screen or touch and hold the app icon for quick actions. These open editable forms; they never silently add an entry.

Reminders and app lock

Both are optional and initially off. Configure reminders in EatNPoo Settings; if notifications are denied, allow them in iPhone Settings before saving a reminder schedule.

App lock supports Face ID, Touch ID and your iPhone passcode through iOS. If authentication fails or is cancelled, the diary remains locked. Unsaved drafts stay in place when you switch apps.

Contact support

Email my2patterns@gmail.com and describe what happened, the app version, iPhone model and iOS version. Do not include sensitive diary or medical information unless you choose to share it. A support email is never sent automatically.
